Accessibility Committee

A social justice group working to make the church handicap accessible.

 

Building/Grounds

Works closely with the minister, office coordinator, and custodian in maintaining the structural and cosmetic integrity, and daily operation of the church.

 

Committee on Ministry

Monitors, assesses, and guides the entire ministry of the congregation, not just the professional staff.

 

Finance Committee

Gives attention and direction for the administration and management of the church finances.

 

Historical Committee

Collects, documents, stores, and shares some of the history of our church community.

 

Lay Worship Committee

Provides diverse and meaningful Sunday services periodically when the minister is away.

 

Nominating Committee

Identifies the congregation’s needs, facilitates the appointment of people to offices and committees, and challenges them to take risks to further develop their potential.

 

Parish Committee

The governing board of the church for setting all practices, policies, and procedures.

 

Religious Education Committee

Provides learning possibilities for children and adults.

 

Sabbatical Committee

Assists the minister in coordinating individuals to lead services and provide pastoral care when the minister in on sabbatical.

 

Growth and Development Committee

Carefully and responsibly manages the needs of the membership community, integration of new members, and annual fundraising outreach.

 

Teaching Parish Committee

Provides supervision, support and direction to a Student minister, who serves as part of the pastoral staff during a two year part-time position.

Community Groups/Activities at First Church UU

Several outside organizations use First Church for their meetings and activities.  These include:

 

Yoga

Monday 5:30 pm & 7:00 pm, Wednesday 5:30 pm & 7:00 pm. Reduce stress. Increase energy! Contact Melissa at Optimal Health (978) 840-4119 for beginners and advanced practitioners.

 

Al-Anon

Tuesdays at 7:00 pm. All are welcome to attend; the only requirement for membership is that a relative or friend has a problem with alcoholism. There are no dues or fees; Al-Anon is self-supporting through contributions.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous – Tuesday Night Original Group

Tuesdays at 7:45 pm. All are welcome to attend; the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees; AA is self-supporting through its own contributions.
